I wonder what the little town of Lebanon Kansas thinks of the brothers that moved into the bunker on the outskirts of town.
At first, I bet they were weird.
“Why would anyone choose to live in a bunker under an abandoned factory?” “Survivalist types, of course. Preppers. They only ever come into town for basic food and toilet paper needs. I’ve seen them both carrying guns.” “Weird. Hope they don’t cause trouble.”
And then it was like
“They never seem to stay put for long, do they?” “Yeah, always in and out.” “The bigger one seems sick, poor thing. Maybe they have to travel to the city for a hospital for him or something.”
Then
“I think they’ve got a kid with them?” “What?” “Yeah, little Asian guy, looking tired and scared…” “I wonder if it’s a FBI safe house, or something.” “Nah, they’d be in suits.” “Not if they are trying to blend in, Carl.” “Well, that one guy in the gas station wore the trenchcoat and suit!” “…what guy?”
Of course Cas’ actions at the gas station corner store go around the town like wild fire.
“They always have that one muscle car, but sometimes they have others. Always different cars.” “Oh, you mean that white Plymouth that’s there a lot? Or the yellow bug?” “…no. Just regular sedans. Like the FBI would want their people to drive. …what are you talking about?” “I’m not going to help you with your conspiracies, Carl.”
Then the town realizes they have visitors often.
“I think the trench coat guy, the one that terrorized poor Brian at the gas station, drives the Plymouth.” “Then who drives the bug?” “I don’t know, she’s real sweat though. Came in here looking for extension cords of all things. I think she’s their sister.” “They have a sister?” “Nah, she’s probably tech support for the FBI setting up their safety measures, the brother thing is just a cover.” “Then why didn’t they bring their own extension cords, Carl?”
But then they find out that Dean frequents the local bar. That he’s friendly and nice
“Still a cover. What if it’s a halfway house for witness protection, huh?” “Then where are all the witnesses?” “Well if we see them it’s not much protection, now is it?” “Shut up, Carl.” “What if it’s a halfway house for aliens?” “Carl oh my god.”
And stuff like that. A small town would notice, I bet.
